What is V-Lase?
V-Lase is a specially engineered photothermal laser used to treat vulvovaginal atrophy. Vulvovaginal atrophy is a disease that can cause burning and painful intercourse, loss of bladder control, vaginal dryness, irritation, and itchiness. These symptoms occur for a variety of reasons, but most often they are associated with childbirth, normal aging, and loss of estrogen. Over 70% of women will experience these symptoms in their lifetime, so you are not alone if these conditions make intimacy uncomfortable or even impossible. V-Lase is a quick and easy solution that reverses the vaginal aging process by stimulating regrowth of collagen, elastin, and microvasculature structures inside the vaginal canal. After V-Lase treatment, you will enjoy enhanced vaginal lubrication, a tighter vaginal canal, increased mucosal blood supply, greater urinary control, and improved sexual gratification.
Is V-Lase right for me?
If you are an adult woman who experiences painful symptoms caused by vaginal aging, V-Lase is right for you. Though there are very few side effects associated with V-Lase treatment, talk to your doctor to be sure you are a good candidate for V-Lase treatment.
Why choose V-Lase over other restorative vaginal treatments?
Unlike traditional vaginal surgery, V-Lase is nonsurgical and does not require any type of anesthetic or numbing medication. There is very little risk of complications after V-Lase compared to other laser and surgical treatments for the vaginal canal. V-Lase also requires no recovery period or down time, and patients can resume sexual activity immediately following treatment. Unlike other laser and surgical treatments, patients do not need to shave or perform other preparations before V-Lase. However, surgical procedures have been shown to provide longer lasting results and greater improvements over time. Every option has pros and cons, so be sure to discuss which procedure is right for you with your surgical team.
What can I expect the day I receive V-Lase treatment?
A specially designed laser wand will be gently inserted into the vaginal canal. The probe will slowly rotate 360° while the laser is fired at various targeted locations. The laser will discharge in a pulsed pattern while producing a gentle warming effect deep inside the vaginal tissue and pelvic floor.
What will recovery be like after I receive V-Lase?
After V-Lase treatment, you can immediately go back to work and resume your normal lifestyle. You can even begin to enjoy your improved intimate life right away.
How many V-Lase treatments will I need and when will I see results?
Most women begin to experience improvement after their first treatment, but it will take at least three sessions to achieve optimal results. Depending on your individual body chemistry, you may begin to notice results anywhere from two hours to two weeks following treatment. As collagen and elastin in your vaginal canal gradually regrow, you will see continued improvement over several months, with optimal results within six months after your final V-Lase treatment.
