Approximately 80% of women have some degree of cellulite, a result of
concentrated fat cells that leave a rippling
effect on the skin, which is often compared
to an orange peel. It is typically most pronounced
around the thighs, hips and buttocks of women.
You do not need to be overweight or a certain
age to have cellulite. Even very young and
very thin women are affected.
Velasmooth is the first and only medical device with the revolutionary elos
(electro-optical synergy) combined energy technology by Syneron Medical.
By using Bi-Polar Radio Frequency and Infrared Light, plus tissue mobilization
combined with suction, the appearance of cellulite is reduced and problem
areas are re-contoured.
What causes Cellulite?
Cellulite develops in the body when fat is deposited immediately below the
dermis and contained in fat chambers that can become swollen. As the fat
cells grow in size, surrounding tissue becomes compressed and hardened,
making blood circulation more difficult and trapping fluids. This causes
reduced elasticity of the adipose tissue, producing an undesirable tension
between the layers. The resulting depression of connective tissue anchor
points creates the appearance of cellulite.
How does Velasmooth get rid of cellulite?
The machine uses light and radio frequency to heat up fat cells, breaking
them apart and sending them to the lymph nodes for the body to dispose of
naturally. The Velasmooth also uses suction to gently smooth the skin during
treatment so the light and radio frequency are delivered uniformly. By reducing
the number of fat cells and affecting the intra-fat structure, the treated
area becomes smoother and more elastic. The radio frequency also causes
a mild contraction that visually lifts and firms the area, especially noticeable
in the buttocks. Velasmooth in conjunction with Mesotherapy
offers even better results. Our doctors may recommend that you use both
therapies to get the most benefits and most pronounced smoothing and contouring
of the skin.
All patients in the FDA studies demonstrated improvement in cellulite appearance
as well as reduction in the hip circumference. Average improvement for all
patients on the appearance of cellulite was 65%. Hip perimeters were reduced
3.2 cm on average, and all patients reported feeling skin contraction as
a result of the treatment. .
What's a Velasmooth treatment like?
You'll lie on a table for your treatment. Your technician will pass the
Velasmooth hand piece over the area with the cellulite. This may be repeated
a number of times. You will feel a strong massaging action of the suction
and possibly some warmth as the radio frequency penetrates to the fat layer
in your skin. Since this is a medical treatment for cellulite, and far beyond
the ineffective spa-type procedures, there is typically some level of discomfort.
The most effective levels of treatment with the best response potential
will frequently create some temporary (and expected) bruising.
The number of treatments varies for each individual, but typically a series
of 16, performed twice weekly for 8 weeks, offers measurable as well as
visual improvement. Each treatment generally takes only 30 to 45 minutes.
Other types of cellulite reduction equipment offered only massage and suction,
rendering it far less effective. Since the infrared light and radio frequency
of Velasmooth actually heat the fat cells, the effect is one of dispersal
and removal of the cells - not simply a breaking up of some of the hardened
tissue. Additionally, Syneron's Velasmooth requires no time "off".
